Montana - we love it!

We were offered a work camping job at Rollins RV Park just a few days after we arrived and accepted it.  We have always talked about work camping and finally had the chance to give it a try so on Friday, July 29th we started working.  My job was to work out the kinks in the reservation software and work in the office. That was right up my alley to learn a new software program. Terry escorted guest to their sites and helped with general maintenance.  We could not have found a better park for our first work camping experience thanks to Greg and Monica Simonson the owners,  Cindy and Jeff Brett the camp hosts, and the new friends we made during our stay Mike and Kathy Wilson, Pat Roberts, Ben and Lori, all the employees at the restaurant and of course we can't forget "Little Man", Spencer and Andy.

Monday was a beautiful afternoon so we went out with Mike & Kathy Wilson on their pontoon boat to see Flathead Lake.  The first point of interest we saw was a house and private island for sale. Click on this link if you want to see the entire property.  This beauty can be purchased at the bargain price of $39,000,000.  Did you know the lake is home to the Flathead Lake Monster?  Click here to learn more about the sightings of this creature.  We did not see any signs of the monster which was probably a real good thing. Wildhorse Island is where we beached the boat and got in the cold water.  It did get tolerable after a few minutes but those first few minutes were shocking to the body.  The wild horses did not make themselves visible to us but a big buck came out of the woods for water.

We had another afternoon of fun on the lake riding a jet ski.  This was the first time for either of us to ride on one and it was a blast.  Terry hammered down on it and got it up to 65mph while I watched him from the pontoon boat.  Entirely to fast for me but Kathy 2 poured the coals to it when she rode it.  Mike named us Kathy 1 and Kathy 2, boy did he get in trouble for naming his wife Kathy 2.

Rollins is a very small rural town located between  Polson and Kalispell.  We became very comfortable with a 30 mile trip to the north or south for Wally World.  But who needs the city when you have the view of  the Mission Mountains and Flathead Lake while spending your days in Rollins.  Well in our case a few days turned into 7 weeks.

We had to say good-bye to our little Peaches on August 2.  While we were in South Dakota we found out she had cancer and were faced with making a very tough decision.  It was not easy but we knew it was the right thing to do for her. She was a great traveling companion and gave us so much love and joy for 15 1/2 years. Montana will always have a piece of our heart.

Beautiful Flathead Lake

Shelter Island Estate - it's for sale only 39 million

Painted Rocks - location of pictographs painted on the cliffs
and petrographs carved into the basalt on the western shore of Flathead Lake.
Ancient depictions of  native people who once lived around Flathead Lake.

Wildhorse Island

Let the fun begin.

Captain Mike and his first mate.

Moving on

Having a blast!

A little impressed with the speed of this baby.

I see a new toy in our future,

So much fun.

It took Kathy 2 about 5 seconds and she was wide open.

Telling  Mike what she wants him to buy her  for Christmas.

Big buck

Best shot I could get of him at the water.

Length of the lake is 28 miles and width is15 miles.
It is one of the cleanest lakes in the world for its type and size.
161 miles of shoreline

Smoke from the wildfire near Thompson Falls obscured the view of the
 Mission Mountains and the lake.

This picture of the smoke in the area was taken on my way to Polson.  A way of life here.

More beauty over Flathead Lake.
The rainbow means hope and good fortune.  When double rainbows appear it means
that one good thing will lead to another in your life.  Spiritually it means to me ascending from heaven to earth
 and earth back to heaven.

Mike and Kathy brought us to the Idle Spur for broasted chicken,

Meet the camp host at Rollins RV Park - Cindy and Jeff Brett.

Allison having a good time with her dad Jeff at his birthday party.

Camp day for the little ones at Rollins RV Park.  Aren't these the cutest little bears made from dough.
Monica loves children and held a camp day each Thursday.

Learning how to play Phase 10 with George and Toni Boomer.  Darkness didn't stop the game we just brought out the lanterns and the jackets.  (I borrowed this picture from Toni)

Teaching Kathy 2 how to cook jambalaya.  She says she wants to be a Cajun in her second life.

Monica runs the restaurant at the RV park and had John from Baker Boy come out and bake up some goodies.

Meet "Little Man" - he is Monica and Greg's grandson.

I had to get a picture of Terry cutting the grass at the RV park and not even breaking a sweat.

That was one big moose Greg killed.  This is the inside of the rec hall at the park.

He also shot this bear.

Her favorite place to be - outside in Terry's lap.

Peaches saw a lot of America.  We miss her so much.

Beautiful evening sky in Rollins, Montana.
