The weekend and our stay in Amarillo was over. On Monday June 13th we traveled to our next destination Colorado Springs, CO. The trip odometer was reading 719 miles as we were leaving and we added another 364 miles making the total miles 1083. The Golden Eagle RV Campground located on Hwy 115 in Colorado Springs is where we were for the next six nights.
We set up camp and decided to go into Colorado Springs for a bite to eat. On the way a severe thunderstorm rolls in and causes local street flooding. Of course not knowing the area and depending on the GPS in the jeep we were directed right to a flooded area.
Tuesday we made a trip to Canon City to see The Royal Gorge Bridge and Park. The weather was very nice and breezy. We stepped onto the Aerial Gondola and rode 2200 feet across the Gorge, 1200 feet above the Arkansas River while taking in the views of Sangre de Cristo Mountains.

Pretty mountain views inside the campground |
Our little traveling companion "Peaches" just sniffing away. |
Don't think I will be carrying on a conversation with a bear. |
Flooded streets in Colorado Springs. |
The Royal Gorge Park |

Evidence of the fire can be seen in the park today. 3,218 acres burned and 20 buildings destroyed |
300 tons of steel cable bear the brunt of the gateway. |
All of the states flags are flown on the bridge and here is Louisiana's flag. |
Imagine that they won't let me fish from the bridge. |
The Arkansas River is a major tributary of the Mississippi River. |
Rafters are usually seen in this area but this part of the river was closed because the river was flowing too fast. |
Inside the tram there was a warning sign telling you to stay inside the tram in the event it suddenly stopped. Where would one go? |
We heard several explicit adjectives from those coming in on the zip lines. |
You're having too much fun! I can't wait to get on the road. Make Terry behave and y'all take care.
