Garden of the Gods

Wednesday we visited a National Natural Landmark known as  Garden of the Gods.  In 1909 the family of Charles Elliott Perkins gave the City of Colorado Springs 480 acres of land that is a portion of the park today with the provision that it would be a free public park.  The park has grown to 1,364 acres.

Driving through the park you see every imaginable shape of deep red rocks. Several rock climbers had made it to the top of the rock formations.   Look for them in the pictures below.

Sentinel Rock ( Twin Spires)

A climber in the top left corner.

There were several climbers that made it to the top.

This formation looks like a fish to me.

Kissing Camels

White Rock - strange how the color of this rock is white while all the others were deep red and pink.
